In February 2026, TikTok told US sellers it would stop letting them ship their own orders. Most sellers would have to switch to TikTok-run logistics, such as Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT), by the end of March. Days before the first deadline, TikTok called it off.
The mandate is gone, but FBT itself keeps moving. Its US rate card changed seven times between January and July 2026, according to AMZ Prep’s tracking of the FBT rate card. So a lot of what you read about FBT is already out of date.
This guide explains what Fulfilled by TikTok is, who can use it and what it costs. It compares FBT with the other TikTok Shop fulfillment options, TikTok Shipping and Seller Shipping, and helps you decide when it’s worth it. TikTok’s rules were checked on 29 October 2026.

What is Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT)?
Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) is TikTok Shop’s own fulfillment service. You send your stock to TikTok’s warehouses. When a shopper orders, TikTok picks, packs and ships the item, and in the US it also handles returns and customer service. It’s TikTok’s version of Amazon FBA.
Here’s how it works, step by step:
- You send stock to TikTok. You create a shipment plan in Seller Center, label every unit and book a delivery to a TikTok warehouse.
- TikTok stores it. Storage is free for the first 60 days.
- A shopper buys. The order can come from a video, a LIVE or your shop tab.
- TikTok ships it. It picks, packs and delivers the order, then deals with any return.
If you saw “FBT” on a parcel’s tracking page, it means the seller used Fulfilled by TikTok, so your order shipped from one of TikTok’s warehouses rather than from the seller.
Is FBT required for TikTok Shop sellers?
No. TikTok planned to phase out seller-fulfilled shipping in the US from late February 2026, with every seller moved to TikTok-managed logistics by the end of March. On 17 February it reversed course. Its email to sellers said “Seller Shipping remains unchanged, and previously shared deadlines are not going into effect”, as reported by Modern Retail.
Brands had pushed back hard. They said the change would raise fulfillment costs, and that sending stock into TikTok’s warehouses meant forecasting TikTok-only demand in advance, on a platform known for sudden viral spikes. Some planned to cut their product range or leave.
So as of October 2026, US sellers can still ship their own orders. And most can’t use FBT anyway. TikTok’s US shop setup guide lists FBT as available by invitation only, for brands TikTok partners with for managed fulfillment. Older posts and forum threads that say FBT is mandatory are describing the plan that was dropped.
TikTok Shop fulfillment options compared
US sellers choose one of three ways to get orders to shoppers. Here’s how they differ:

| Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) | TikTok Shipping | Seller Shipping | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the stock sits | TikTok’s warehouses | Your shelf or your 3PL | Your shelf or your 3PL |
| Who packs orders | TikTok | You | You |
| Carrier and label | TikTok | TikTok assigns USPS, UPS or FedEx; you pay standard shipping fees | You choose the carrier and buy labels |
| Delivery problems | TikTok, plus returns and customer service | TikTok handles tracking and most logistics issues | You, including return-to-sender costs |
| Who can use it | By invitation | All sellers (the default) | Sellers with their own shipping set-up |
With TikTok Shipping and Seller Shipping, you keep the stock and do the packing. The difference is who picks the carrier. FBT is the only option where TikTok holds your inventory.
How much does Fulfilled by TikTok cost in 2026?
FBT charges one fulfillment fee per unit. It covers picking, packing, packaging and delivery to the shopper, and TikTok takes it from your revenue once the order is delivered. The fee depends on two things: each unit’s chargeable weight, and how many units the shopper buys in one checkout. Orders with two, three or four or more units cost less per unit.
Storage, inbound mistakes, returns and optional services are billed on top:

| Fee | How it’s charged | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Fulfillment fee | Per unit, when the order is delivered | Set by chargeable weight and units per order |
| Storage | Daily, by cubic feet | Free for 60 days. From day 61 to 270, rates are 14% to 43% below standard. After 270 days, full rates apply |
| Hub placement | Per unit, optional | Sending stock straight to the warehouse TikTok assigns avoids it |
| Routing non-compliance | Per unit | From $0.50 a unit when a shipment doesn’t match its plan or arrives at the wrong place |
| Returns | Per unit | Itemized since 1 June 2026, based on your return setting and what happens to the item |
Shoppers get free shipping on FBT products by default. Free-shipping products that arrive within three days at least 90% of the time can show TikTok’s “Free Shipping 3-Day Delivery” badge.
What changed in 2026
| Date | Change |
|---|---|
| 12 January | Multi-unit fees cut by up to 24% for items up to 4 lb |
| 1 May | Items up to 2 lb and 332 cubic inches billed on actual weight only |
| 1 June | The flat $3 per order return fee replaced by per-unit return fees |
| 18 June | Multi-unit fees raised by $0.10 to $3.00 for items from 5 to 20 lb |
| 13 July | Rate card extended to heavy items up to 150 lb |
Because the rates move this often, check the current FBT rate card in Seller Center before you price a product. FBT fees sit on top of TikTok’s referral fee and other selling costs, which our TikTok Shop fees guide breaks down.
FBT requirements: who can use it and what your products need
- An invitation. In the US, FBT is invitation only. There’s no public sign-up form. If you have a TikTok account manager, ask them whether your shop qualifies.
- Products that fit. Standard FBT takes items up to 26 × 26 × 26 inches and under 50 lb. Since July 2026, heavier items up to 150 lb go through TikTok’s Heavy Bulky service.
- A shipment plan. You list the SKUs, quantities and delivery date in Seller Center before anything ships, then book an appointment and arrive on time.
- A scannable barcode on every unit, and packaging that meets TikTok’s FBT standards. Fixing either at the warehouse costs extra.
- Ready-made bundles. FBT doesn’t assemble kits. A bundle has to arrive already packed if you want it billed as one unit.
Most avoidable FBT costs come from inbound mistakes: wrong counts, the wrong warehouse, late appointments and missing labels. Get the shipment plan right and they disappear.
Pros and cons of FBT
Pros
- No packing or shipping work. TikTok handles orders, returns and customer service.
- Your delivery score is protected. FBT orders are left out of your On-Time Delivery Rate. Orders you ship yourself are still measured against TikTok’s delivery deadline.
- 60 days of free storage for each unit.
- Free shipping for shoppers by default, and a path to the 3-day delivery badge.
Cons
- Invitation only in the US.
- You have to guess TikTok demand in advance. Stock in TikTok’s warehouse is set aside for TikTok orders. Send too little and a viral video empties it before more arrives. Send too much and it can’t fill orders from your other shops.
- Slow sellers cost money. Storage fees start on day 61 and rise again after day 270.
- Heavy and bulky items get expensive, because the fee is set by chargeable weight.
- Less control over packaging, inserts and how returns are handled.
Is Fulfilled by TikTok worth it?
It depends on the product, not the shop. If you’re invited, run each SKU through this table:
| Your situation | FBT? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Light products that sell fast on TikTok | Good fit | Low weight tiers, and stock sells inside the free 60 days |
| You often miss TikTok’s delivery deadlines | Good fit | FBT orders don’t count toward your on-time delivery rate |
| Shoppers often buy several items at once | Good fit | Multi-unit orders cost less per unit |
| Heavy or bulky products | Compare first | Fees climb with chargeable weight |
| Products that take months to sell | Usually not | Storage fees from day 61 |
| Most of your sales happen on Shopify, Etsy or eBay | Usually not | FBT stock only serves TikTok orders, so one shared shelf is simpler |
A quick test: add up what one order costs you to ship yourself, meaning the label, the box and the time to pack it. If the FBT fee for that product is lower, and the stock will sell within 60 days, FBT probably saves you money.
Using FBT and your own warehouse together
You don’t have to choose one. TikTok lets you run FBT and your own warehouse at the same time. Orders ship from FBT first, and your warehouse covers TikTok orders once FBT stock runs out. A common setup is to keep fast best-sellers in FBT and everything else, plus some backup stock, on your own shelf.

This setup leaves you with two pools of stock. TikTok tracks the units in its warehouse. The units on your shelf are shared by every channel you sell on, and that’s the count that goes wrong. A TikTok order ships from your shelf after FBT runs out, Shopify still shows the old number, and the same item sells twice. Our TikTok Shop integrations guide explains which orders sync when TikTok ships them.
QuickSync keeps the stock you hold on one count across TikTok Shop and Shopify, Etsy, eBay, Square and more. It doesn’t change stock in TikTok’s FBT warehouses, which TikTok manages itself. In the US, FBT orders still come into QuickSync without the buyer’s details, and can be copied to QuickBooks or Xero for your books. Our help page on fulfillment by seller vs by TikTok has the details, and TikTok warehouses explains how each of your own warehouses gets its own count.
Where are TikTok’s fulfillment centers?
TikTok doesn’t publish a public list. FBT runs on hubs on both US coasts plus a network of fulfillment centers, 14 by AMZ Prep’s count. For hub pricing, Redlands and Eastvale in California count as West, and Middlesex in New Jersey counts as East. When you create an inbound plan, Seller Center tells you where to send each shipment.
