Why eBay is the channel that oversells
Three things about eBay that a spreadsheet and most tools get wrong, and that decide whether the count is right.
It tells no one
Shopify, Square and TikTok Shop push a message the moment something sells. eBay doesn’t, for stock or for orders. Every tool reads it on a timer, and the timer is the oversell window. Ask any vendor how often; QuickSync’s answer is every two minutes.
Cancellations are a metric
An out-of-stock cancellation counts against your transaction defect rate. Enough of them and the account drops below standard, which adds 6% to every final value fee until you climb back. The oversell costs more than the order.
SKUs are 50 characters
eBay’s custom label field truncates at 50. A code that Shopify and Etsy accept can still be cut on eBay, and a cut SKU stops matching, which is the one failure a sync tool exists to prevent. The SKU generator checks every channel’s limit.

How do I manage inventory on eBay?

Does eBay have built-in inventory management?

Will a tool move my tracking numbers back to eBay?
QuickSync does: when an order shipped from Shopify, WooCommerce, Square or another shop gets a tracking number, it is written to the eBay order so the buyer and eBay’s shipping metrics see it. What no tool can do is create an order on eBay; marketplaces hand orders out, they don’t take them in.
