Nothing publishes itself to Etsy or eBay
Copying a listing from Etsy to eBay (or the other way) always waits for you to look at it. Stock is the only thing that moves on its own, and only once you have turned it on.
Neither of these can fulfil the other's orders
That is how marketplaces work, and it changes what you should expect from a connection.
Etsy and eBay are both marketplaces, which means neither can be told to pick and post an order that came from the other. There is no arrangement in which an eBay sale gets fulfilled out of Etsy, or the reverse, and no tool will get round it, because the constraint belongs to the platforms rather than to us. Worth settling in your head before you go hunting for the setting.
What is left, and what actually causes the trouble, is the count. Both shops sell the same items off the same shelf and neither has any idea what the other has shifted. One code per listing, and no more than two options
Three Etsy rules shape this pair, and the duplicate-code one is the easiest to trip over.
Reuse one code across two listings in the same Etsy shop and Etsy labels the pair ‘Multiple same SKU’. Both sit out of sync until you separate them, which is the right call: with one code pointing at two listings there is no honest way to say which of them a count belongs to. Sellers who relist a design rather than edit the original tend to meet it, usually with the old listing still up beside its replacement.
Etsy stops a SKU at 32 characters where eBay will take 50, so 32 is the number to design your catalogue around. A longer code is cut down to fit as it crosses, and the cut version no longer points at the product it left. There is no error to read; the item just stops pairing with itself, and you find out when a count drifts. Measure your longest codes before you connect.
Etsy also caps a listing at two option types. A product sold on eBay as size, colour and material has to lose one of the three or be broken into more than one listing, and deciding which is a job for whoever knows the catalogue. It is not something a connection can settle on your behalf, and doing it once, on purpose, beats discovering the rule midway through a listing run.

How quickly does eBay update after something sells on Etsy?
Within five minutes. Etsy has no way of telling us the moment a sale happens, so we check it on a short timer instead. Once we have the sale, correcting eBay takes a second or two. The other direction is much quicker: eBay tells us straight away. If either shop has an outage, we hold the update and retry until it goes through.
Can I sync inventory between Etsy and eBay?
