Etsy & Clover

Etsy Clover integration that keeps the register and the marketplace in step

For shops that ring sales on a Clover register and also sell on Etsy. Clover allows a 100-character SKU and Etsy stops at 32, so the code tying a counter product to a listing has to be the short one. Clover tells us the moment something sells, so Etsy is corrected in under a second. Etsy does not announce a sale, so we check it every five minutes for new orders instead.

From $19 a month for two shops · no credit card · connected in about ten minutes · nothing changes until you say so · Updated 29 August 2026

4.9 out of 5 from 2,900+ reviews across our Shopify apps

Who this is for. A Clover sale on the counter should drop the Etsy listing before the next shopper buys the same unit online. Plan around Etsy’s check interval (orders up to five minutes) if that side is your busiest. Tracking numbers will not write back to Clover, worth knowing before you buy if you ship a lot from that side.
How to connect

How to connect Etsy and Clover

Four steps and about ten minutes. The two connections are a login each; most of the time is us matching your catalogues, and nothing changes until you switch it on.

Connect Etsy

You approve QuickSync from your Etsy account for the shop you want connected.

~1 minute

Connect Clover

You install QuickSync from the Clover app market on the merchant account that owns the register.

~1 minute

Let it match your products

We line the two catalogues up by SKU, then by title, and hand you a short list of anything we could not match. You decide what happens to those.

~5 minutes

Watch, then switch it on

Leave it watching for a few days and check the numbers agree. When you are happy, let it start making changes, one shop at a time.

The one asymmetry worth knowing. Clover tells us the second something sells. Etsy has no equivalent, so we go and look every five minutes for orders, every two for stock instead. Sending to Etsy is instant either way. It is only finding out about its own sales that waits for the next check, and safety stock covers that window.
What changes

Running the register and the other channel by hand

The register and the Etsy listing are the same unit of stock. When only one of them knows it sold, the other keeps offering it. That is how you oversell.

Correcting Clover takes under a second once we have the sale. The order is in your packing list with the Etsy order number on it, and a tracking number added later goes back to Etsy on its own.

The other direction is faster: a sale on Clover reaches Etsy in under a second, because Clover pushes it to us the moment it happens.

Speed and limits

The limits: know them before you connect

Every Etsy Clover integration has constraints. These are the ones that apply here.

Etsy waits; Clover does not

A Clover sale reaches Etsy in under a second. An Etsy sale reaches Clover on our next look, which is within five minutes. Hold back a little safety stock and that window stops mattering.

Two option types on Etsy

Etsy allows two kinds of option per listing, so a product that is size, colour and material elsewhere has to fold down to two. We show you which products are affected before anything is published.

Nothing publishes itself to Etsy or Clover

Copying a listing from Etsy to Clover (or the other way) always waits for you to look at it. Stock is the only thing that moves on its own, and only once you have turned it on.

Variant options

Etsy gives a listing two option types

If your till sells size, colour and material, one of the three has to go.

Etsy permits two option types per listing and will not stretch. A product that the Clover till sells by size, colour and material has to come down to two before Etsy will take it, and choosing which two is a question about your catalogue rather than a switch anybody can throw. Merging two of them into one option with a compound name is the common answer, though what you call it is yours to decide.

Do this before stock starts moving. Reshaping variants on a live listing means the SKUs underneath them change, and every SKU change is another chance for the two sides to stop recognising each other. An afternoon deciding how a three-option product should look on Etsy costs far less than untangling counts that drifted apart around a rename nobody wrote down.

Clover has no equivalent limit, so nothing needs to change on the till side. That is the general shape of this pair: Clover is the roomier of the two on almost every measure, and Etsy is where the rules come from. Read Etsy’s constraints as the design brief and the Clover side will accommodate whatever you decide to do.

Before you connect

Etsy cuts a SKU at 32 characters

The tighter limit in this pair by a distance, and the one that breaks matching.

Clover will hold a SKU of 100 characters. Etsy takes 32. That is a real gap, and 32 goes quickly if your codes were built out of words rather than shortened on purpose. Give Etsy more than that and it keeps the first 32, which names nothing on either side, so the count for that item quietly stops moving while the connection still looks healthy.

One code on two listings is the other thing Etsy refuses. It reads them as duplicates, flags ‘Multiple same SKU’ and holds both back, on the grounds that a single count cannot be split between two listings honestly. Give each listing a code of its own and they join in. Leave them sharing one and they stay out, for a reason rather than by accident.

One more thing to know before you route posted orders through the till. Clover has no field for a tracking number, so we cannot write one back into it, and the tracking stays in QuickSync. If your process is for someone to open Clover and read the number off the sale, that is the process to change first.

FAQ

Questions people ask about this pair

How quickly does Clover update after something sells on Etsy?

Within five minutes. Etsy has no way of telling us the moment a sale happens, so we check it on a short timer instead. Once we have the sale, correcting Clover takes under a second. The other direction is much quicker: Clover tells us straight away. If either shop has an outage, we hold the update and retry until it goes through.

Can I sync Etsy inventory with Clover?

Yes. QuickSync holds one count across the Etsy shop and the Clover till, pairing items on their SKU. Etsy never reports a sale as it happens, so it is polled: quantities at two-minute intervals and orders at five. Clover is the quicker side of the two, telling us about a sale as it rings up.

Why is an Etsy listing not syncing with my Clover item?

Two causes come up most. The code may run past 32 characters, which Etsy shortens, leaving it matching nothing on the till side. Or two listings in the same Etsy shop carry one code, which Etsy flags as ‘Multiple same SKU’ and keeps both out of sync. Give every listing its own short code.

Do I have to re-list my Etsy products on Clover?

No. We match your existing listings by SKU first, then by title, and hand you whatever we could not match. If you do copy a listing across, watch Etsy: Etsy allows two kinds of option per listing, so a product that is size, colour and material elsewhere has to fold down to two. We show you which products are affected before anything is published.

Can I charge a different price on Clover?

Yes. Set a rule once for Clover: a percentage, a fixed uplift, or a price you type yourself. We apply it whenever the price changes, and nothing forces Etsy and Clover to the same number.

Does the tracking number go back to both shops?

Not to Clover. Clover has no way for us to send a tracking number back. Counter sales rarely need one, but it is worth knowing if you also ship from the same stock.

Does an Etsy order get recreated on Clover?

No. The order stays on Etsy. We pull it into your one QuickSync list next to your Clover orders so you pack from one place, without creating a duplicate Clover order for it.

What happens if a buyer cancels or I refund them on Etsy or Clover?

The stock goes back. A cancellation or a refund puts the item back into your count and we send the corrected number to both Etsy and Clover.

Which plan do I need for Etsy and Clover?

Lite covers Etsy and Clover. Lite is $19 a month for two shops and holds 1,000 items, with up to eight connected integrations. You would move up a plan for catalogue size, and your bill goes up by another $19 if you connect a third shop.
