WooCommerce Etsy integration that keeps one stock count

WooCommerce and Etsy have no connection of their own, so every route between them runs through a plugin. The choice worth making carefully is which kind: most are built to publish listings onto Etsy, and holding two open shops on one stock count is a different job.

For WooCommerce shops that also sell on Etsy. Settle your SKUs first: Etsy sellers often reuse one code across several listings, and where two listings in the same shop share one we flag them and leave sync off for those items rather than guess which count should win.

What to know before you connect

Inventory limit

Two option types on Etsy

Etsy allows two kinds of option per listing, so a product that is size, colour and material elsewhere has to fold down to two. We show you which products are affected before anything is published.

Manual control

Listings do not publish to WooCommerce or Etsy on their own

Copying a listing from WooCommerce to Etsy (or the other way) always waits for you to look at it. Stock is the only thing that moves on its own, and only once you have turned it on.

Variants on Etsy

Etsy gives you two option types and no more

A size, colour and material product has to fold down to two before it will fit.

A product that is size, colour and material on your WooCommerce site cannot stay that way on Etsy. Etsy allows two option types per listing and there is no setting that raises it. So the third dimension has to go somewhere, and you are the one who decides which pair survives. That decision belongs to whoever knows the catalogue, which is why it is worth making deliberately rather than discovering it halfway through a first sync.

Most sellers resolve it by combining. Colour and material become one option reading navy linen, leaving size as the second. That keeps each variant distinct and gives each one a SKU of its own to be identified by. Work the fold out before you connect, because renaming options on listings that are already selling is more disruptive than getting it right the first time.

The reason to settle it early is that the fold changes your SKUs, and SKUs are what the two sides match on. Collapsing three option types into two usually means renaming items, and every rename is another chance for the Etsy copy and the WooCommerce copy to stop pointing at each other. Doing it once, before anything is connected, avoids unpicking it while orders are arriving.

Timing and SKUs

Etsy cannot tell us the moment something sells

So we ask it on a timer: stock every two minutes, orders every five.

Etsy has no way to announce a sale to us, so it gets asked rather than listened to. We check stock every two minutes and orders every five. On a slow-moving catalogue that is invisible. On something that sells several times an hour it is a real window, and the practical answer is a little safety stock on your fastest lines rather than expecting the two shops to agree to the second.

SKU length is where this pair is genuinely tight. WooCommerce will store 300 characters; Etsy takes 32. Anything longer is truncated on the way to Etsy and then stops matching, silently, because we shorten rather than refuse to send. Thirty-two characters disappears quickly in a SKU built out of words, so the sellers with the most descriptive naming schemes are the ones who tend to trip over this.

One more Etsy rule to check: two listings in the same shop sharing a SKU are flagged as multiple same SKU, and sync stays off for both until you separate them. That is easy to hit if you have ever duplicated a listing to test something, or left an old one up alongside its replacement. Search your shop for repeated SKUs first; it is quicker than diagnosing why two items never move.

Two different jobs

Listing your products on Etsy is not keeping them level

Most Etsy plugins are built to publish a catalogue. What happens after both shops are open is a separate problem.

Search for a WooCommerce Etsy integration and nearly everything on the first page is a listing tool. They bulk-upload your WooCommerce catalogue onto Etsy, map your categories to Etsy’s own taxonomy, fill in the attributes each category demands and let you set a different price per channel. That is real work and it is the hard part of getting onto Etsy at all, which is why those plugins exist and why several of them are good.

Publishing is a job that finishes, though. Once both shops are open and selling the same unit, the question changes to which of them is right about the count, and it is asked again every time either one takes an order. A tool built to push listings outward has no particular reason to be good at that, and some are sold as a one-off licence precisely because the listing job is done once.

That second job is what this page is about, and the two Etsy rules above are most of it: SKUs are what the sides match on, Etsy truncates them at 32 characters, and two listings sharing a SKU stop syncing until you separate them. Settle both before you connect anything, whichever app you choose.

Questions people ask about this pair

Do I have to re-list my WooCommerce products on Etsy?

No. We match your existing listings by SKU, and hand you whatever we could not match. If you do copy a listing across, watch Etsy: Etsy allows two kinds of option per listing, so a product that is size, colour and material elsewhere has to fold down to two. We show you which products are affected before anything is published.

Can I sync inventory between WooCommerce and Etsy?

Yes, matched by SKU. The two things to sort out first are length and duplicates. Etsy truncates a SKU over 32 characters, and two listings in one Etsy shop sharing a SKU are flagged as multiple same SKU, which keeps sync off for both. Clear those and the count moves in both directions.

Does WooCommerce integrate with Etsy?

Yes, through a plugin rather than anything built in. Neither WooCommerce nor Etsy publishes a direct connection, so something sits between them in every case. What differs is what each plugin is for: publishing your catalogue onto Etsy, or keeping two open shops on one stock count. QuickSync does the second, matching on SKU and correcting whichever shop did not make the sale.

Is there a free WooCommerce Etsy integration?

There are free plugins on the WordPress directory, and they are mostly listing tools: they get products from WooCommerce onto Etsy. Read what each one says about stock before you settle, because publishing a catalogue and holding a count level afterwards are different jobs, and a plugin is rarely equally good at both.

Can I import my Etsy listings into WooCommerce?

Some plugins will pull an existing Etsy catalogue into WooCommerce, which is the usual route when Etsy came first. Treat it as a migration rather than a sync: it populates the WooCommerce side once, and keeping the two counts level from then on is the separate job described above. Sort your SKUs during the import, while renaming is still cheap.

Can I charge a different price on Etsy?

Yes. Set a rule once for Etsy: a percentage, a fixed uplift, or a price you type yourself. We apply it whenever the price changes, and nothing forces WooCommerce and Etsy to the same number.

Does the tracking number go back to both shops?

Yes. When you add a tracking number to an order, we send it back to whichever of WooCommerce or Etsy the order came from, and the buyer gets the shop’s normal notification.

Does an Etsy order get recreated on WooCommerce?

No. The order stays on Etsy. We pull it into your one QuickSync list next to your WooCommerce orders so you pack from one place, without creating a duplicate WooCommerce order for it.

What happens if a buyer cancels or I refund them on WooCommerce or Etsy?

A refund alone does not restock an item. When the originating platform reports a stock increase, QuickSync propagates the updated quantity between WooCommerce and Etsy.

Which plan do I need for WooCommerce and Etsy?

Lite covers WooCommerce and Etsy. Lite is $19 a month for two shops and holds 1,000 items, with up to eight connected integrations. You would move up a plan for catalogue size, and your bill goes up by another $19 if you connect a third shop.
