Copying a listing from Lightspeed to Etsy (or the other way) always waits for you to look at it. Stock is the only thing that moves on its own, and only once you have turned it on.

Lightspeed tells us the moment the till rings, so when something sells at the counter the Etsy listing drops to match in about a second. Etsy doesn’t announce orders to anyone, so we check every five minutes, and an Etsy sale reaches the register on the next look.

What that asks of you is small and specific: on the handful of items that sell fastest, keep one unit of safety stock. A five-minute window on an item that sells twice a day is no window at all; on the market-day bestseller it’s worth the single held-back unit.

The marketplace decides the catalogue’s shape, not the register.

Etsy allows a listing two option types, so an item that’s size, colour and material on the register has to fold down to two on Etsy. We list the affected products before anything publishes, and you choose how each folds.

Etsy also allows the same SKU on more than one listing, which we won’t guess between: duplicates are flagged and sit out of sync until each listing has its own code. And because a new Etsy listing costs $0.20, nothing publishes to Etsy until you’ve approved it.

What happens if a buyer cancels or I refund them on Lightspeed or Etsy?
