Etsy & eBay

Etsy eBay integration that keeps one stock count across both marketplaces

For sellers listing the same stock on Etsy and eBay. Neither can be handed an order to fill, so this pair is about keeping two counts honest rather than routing work between them, and Etsy’s 32-character SKU is the code both have to share. Neither marketplace announces a sale to us, so we check eBay every two minutes and Etsy every five, and correct the other as soon as we see it.

Who this is for. You list the same SKUs on Etsy and eBay and need one warehouse number behind both. Plan around both timers: eBay about two minutes, Etsy orders up to five, if either side is busy.

What a Etsy eBay integration actually moves

One row per job, based on how QuickSync connects to Etsy and eBay today. Where a side does not allow something, the cell says so.

What changes

Running two marketplaces from one warehouse by hand

Two marketplaces with two counts is how you oversell the same SKU in one afternoon. One warehouse number behind Etsy and eBay is the fix.

Correcting eBay takes a second or two once we have the sale. The order is in your packing list with the Etsy order number on it, and a tracking number added later goes back to Etsy on its own.

The other direction has a wait of its own: eBay does not announce its sales either, so we look every two minutes.

Getting started

Connecting Etsy and eBay takes about ten minutes

Most of that is us matching your catalogues. The two connections themselves are a login each.

Connect Etsy

You approve QuickSync from your Etsy account for the shop you want connected.

~1 minute

Connect eBay

You sign in to eBay and grant QuickSync access to the selling account.

~1 minute

Let it match your products

We line the two catalogues up by SKU, then by title, and hand you a short list of anything we could not match. You decide what happens to those.

~5 minutes

Watch, then switch it on

Leave it watching for a few days and check the numbers agree. When you are happy, let it start making changes, one shop at a time.

Speed and limits

The limits: know them before you connect

Every Etsy eBay integration has constraints. These are the ones that apply here.

Both sides wait on a timer

Neither eBay nor Etsy announces a sale to us. We check eBay every two minutes and Etsy every five for orders, then correct the other as soon as we see it. Safety stock on your fastest sellers covers both windows.

Two option types on Etsy

Etsy allows two kinds of option per listing, so a product that is size, colour and material elsewhere has to fold down to two. We show you which products are affected before anything is published.

Nothing publishes itself to Etsy or eBay

Copying a listing from Etsy to eBay (or the other way) always waits for you to look at it. Stock is the only thing that moves on its own, and only once you have turned it on.

Two marketplaces, one shelf

Neither of these can fulfil the other's orders

That is how marketplaces work, and it changes what you should expect from a connection.

Etsy and eBay are both marketplaces, which means neither can be told to pick and post an order that came from the other. There is no arrangement in which an eBay sale gets fulfilled out of Etsy, or the reverse, and no tool will get round it, because the constraint belongs to the platforms rather than to us. Worth settling in your head before you go hunting for the setting.

What is left, and what actually causes the trouble, is the count. Both shops sell the same items off the same shelf and neither has any idea what the other has shifted. QuickSync sits between them, holds one figure and corrects each side from the other, so a sale on Etsy lowers what eBay will let a buyer take. Packing and posting stays yours. Knowing how many are left does not have to be.

Both sides are also on a timer, which is unusual for a pair. Neither platform volunteers anything: we read Etsy’s quantities every two minutes and fetch its orders every five, and we look at eBay every couple of minutes for stock and orders together. Neither wait is long, but with two polled sides it is sensible to keep a little headroom on your fastest movers.

Where Etsy says no

One code per listing, and no more than two options

Three Etsy rules shape this pair, and the duplicate-code one is the easiest to trip over.

Reuse one code across two listings in the same Etsy shop and Etsy labels the pair ‘Multiple same SKU’. Both sit out of sync until you separate them, which is the right call: with one code pointing at two listings there is no honest way to say which of them a count belongs to. Sellers who relist a design rather than edit the original tend to meet it, usually with the old listing still up beside its replacement.

Etsy stops a SKU at 32 characters where eBay will take 50, so 32 is the number to design your catalogue around. A longer code is cut down to fit as it crosses, and the cut version no longer points at the product it left. There is no error to read; the item just stops pairing with itself, and you find out when a count drifts. Measure your longest codes before you connect.

Etsy also caps a listing at two option types. A product sold on eBay as size, colour and material has to lose one of the three or be broken into more than one listing, and deciding which is a job for whoever knows the catalogue. It is not something a connection can settle on your behalf, and doing it once, on purpose, beats discovering the rule midway through a listing run.

Pricing

Two shops fits the smallest plan

Your catalogue size picks the plan, and your plan price covers two connected shops with every shop after that adding it again. Three shops on Lite is $38 a month.

Lite

$19/mo for two shops

1,000 items and up to eight connected integrations, with stock matched on both sides automatically. Enough for Etsy and eBay on their own, at $19 a month for the two.

Pro

$29/mo for two shops

2,500 items and up to eight connected integrations. Listings and orders sync here as well as stock. Most sellers running two shops properly end up here.

Ultra at $69 and Ultra+ at $99 add larger catalogues, price rules and setup help. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial and no card.

FAQ

Questions people ask about this pair

How quickly does eBay update after something sells on Etsy?

Within five minutes. Etsy has no way of telling us the moment a sale happens, so we check it on a short timer instead. Once we have the sale, correcting eBay takes a second or two. The other direction is much quicker: eBay tells us straight away. If either shop has an outage, we hold the update and retry until it goes through.

Can I sync inventory between Etsy and eBay?

Yes, using a tool in the middle, since neither marketplace can read the other’s listings. QuickSync pairs items on their SKU and keeps a single count, so an Etsy sale lowers what eBay will sell. Build SKUs to 32 characters, which is Etsy’s limit and the shorter of the two, and give every Etsy listing a code of its own.

Can Etsy orders be fulfilled by eBay?

No, and no tool can arrange it. Both are marketplaces, so neither can be instructed to pick and post an order that came from the other. That is a platform constraint rather than a gap in QuickSync. What we do is keep the stock figure honest between the two shops, and the packing and posting stays with you.

Do I have to re-list my Etsy products on eBay?

No. We match your existing listings by SKU first, then by title, and hand you whatever we could not match. If you do copy a listing across, watch Etsy: Etsy allows two kinds of option per listing, so a product that is size, colour and material elsewhere has to fold down to two. We show you which products are affected before anything is published.

Can I charge a different price on eBay?

Yes. Set a rule once for eBay: a percentage, a fixed uplift, or a price you type yourself. We apply it whenever the price changes, and nothing forces Etsy and eBay to the same number.

Does the tracking number go back to both shops?

Yes. When you add a tracking number to an order, we send it back to whichever of Etsy or eBay the order came from, and the buyer gets the shop’s normal notification.

Can I create an order on eBay from a sale on Etsy?

No. Etsy and eBay hand orders out and do not accept orders created elsewhere. We pull both into one packing list so you still work from one place; each order stays on the channel it came from.

What happens if a buyer cancels or I refund them on Etsy or eBay?

The stock goes back. A cancellation or a refund puts the item back into your count and we send the corrected number to both Etsy and eBay.

Which plan do I need for Etsy and eBay?

Lite covers Etsy and eBay. Lite is $19 a month for two shops and holds 1,000 items, with up to eight connected integrations. You would move up a plan for catalogue size, and your bill goes up by another $19 if you connect a third shop.
