Your starting store has the right stock when you set up. Your main store is where you edit products. Your packing store gets every order. Those three, and every other word QuickSync uses, are below, each linked to the page that covers it.
Some things have two names. Setup uses the new word, but a setting, a status or an older guide may still use the old one. The old names table at the end maps them.
Your stores
Main store
Where you edit products. We copy its titles, descriptions, prices, photos and variants to your other stores, and nothing comes back. The Product syncing settings call it the Source store. Our older guides call it the master store.
Packing store
The store every order goes to. We copy each new order into it, so you pack and ship from one list. Seven of the 13 apps can do the job. The Orders page calls it the Fulfillment store, and so do our older guides. Choose your packing store lists which ones qualify.
Starting store
The store whose stock you trust. Setup asks for it with Which store has the correct stock? The first sync copies its counts to your other stores. On your first setup, it has to be your main store too. See Set up your first sync.
Products
Auto SKU creation
A switch in the Product syncing settings. When we copy a product that has no SKU, we give it one first, in your main store. It’s the same choice as setup’s Create missing SKUs question. See Fix missing and duplicate SKUs.
Create missing products
Setup’s offer to copy products from your main store into the stores that don’t have them. We give each copy the same SKU, so it’ll match. A SKU too long for Wix, TikTok Shop, Squarespace or QuickBooks gets cut there, and that copy won’t match. Our older guides call this exporting. See Copy products to another store.
Drafts
New products we create can stay hidden until you publish them. To get that, say yes to Add new products as drafts? in setup, or turn on Create as draft in the Product syncing settings. Drafts work on Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy and TikTok Shop, though on Shopify and WooCommerce the next update from your main store can publish them. Square, Clover and Lightspeed don’t have them. A draft from your main store goes live there.
Matching
How we find the same product in each store. We match by SKU, one variant at a time, and the codes must be identical. A matched product shows under Syncing on the Products page. Needs Alignment means we haven’t matched it yet. See How matching works.
Product syncing
The sync that sends product details out from your main store, new products included. The Product Syncing card on the Products page turns it on. You’ll need Pro or above. What product syncing changes lists the fields.
SKU
The product code you give each variant, such as WL-TOTE-01. We match on it, so a variant without one doesn’t sync. Neither do two variants that share one in the same store. See Fix missing and duplicate SKUs.
Sync list
The products you tick after picking Choose products in setup. Only those sync, stock included. Our older guides call it selective syncing, and the Product syncing settings show Selected products mode. It works on every plan. See Sync only some products.
Variant
One version of a product, such as a tote in black. It’s got its own SKU and stock count. We match and count by variant, so a tee in 4 sizes and 3 colours is 12 items on your plan. See What counts as an item.
Statuses and fixes
Needs attention
The Products page tab for products that aren’t syncing. Each row’s status names the one thing in the way. Fix that, and it’ll sync on the next pass. These are the statuses you’ll see most.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| No SKU found | The variant has no SKU, so we can’t match it. |
| Multiple same SKU found | Two variants in one store share a SKU, so neither syncs. |
| No match found | No product in your other store has this SKU. |
| Needs Alignment | We haven’t matched it with its twin yet. |
| Not in your sync list | You sync only some products, and this one isn’t on the list. |
| No master store | Product syncing is on, but you haven’t picked a main store. |
| Store disconnected | A store this product needs has lost its connection. |
| Product limit reached | You have more variants syncing than your plan covers. |
QuickFix
The button on the Needs attention card. It fixes items in groups, such as creating a missing SKU or a missing listing. It shows what it’ll do and waits for you to confirm. See Fix several at once.
Stock
Inventory syncing
The sync that keeps each product’s stock the same everywhere, both ways, though Amazon only receives it. The Inventory Syncing card on the Products page turns it on or off. Every plan includes it. We sync the quantity you can sell, not what’s on the shelf. See How stock syncs.
Keep selling at zero
A store setting that lets a product sell below zero, such as Shopify’s Continue selling when out of stock. Etsy, eBay, Amazon, TikTok Shop, Wix and Squarespace can’t go below zero, so they get 1 from us instead. That way, they keep selling too. See When stock hits zero.
Locations
The places a store keeps stock, such as a warehouse and a shop. If a store has several, we sync only the ones you connect under Settings, Connect locations. We copy a connected location’s count. Apart from a new product’s first count on Wix or Xero, we don’t add locations up. More in Locations.
Orders
Order route
The card at the top of the Orders page once order syncing is on. Click it to open Order routing. Its Fulfillment store menu sets your packing store. See Change it later.
Order syncing
The sync that copies new orders from your other stores into your packing store. It’s off until you turn it on. You’ll need Pro or above. See How order syncing works.
Tracking
What we send back when your packing store ships an order. We mark the order shipped in the store the buyer used, with the tracking number where that store takes one. Only a Shopify, WooCommerce or Square packing store sends it. See Tracking and shipping status.
Prices and fees
Currency conversion
It turns the prices we send into each store’s own currency, for stores that use different ones. Turn it on under Settings, General. You’ll need Ultra or above. See Prices: markups and currency.
Listing fees
Etsy and eBay can charge for each new listing. Before setup, the Product syncing window or QuickFix creates listings there, we’ll show you our estimate and ask you to accept it. We estimate $0.20 per Etsy listing and $0.35 per eBay listing. Etsy listings made as drafts skip the question. See Copy products to another store.
Price rule
A percentage or fixed amount added to, or taken off, the price we send one store. In that store’s settings, it’s the Price adjustment switch under Pricing. You’ll need Ultra or above. See Prices: markups and currency.
Old names
If an older guide, or a label in the app, uses one of these words, here’s what it means now.
| Older name | What it means now |
|---|---|
| Master store | Your main store. The status No master store still uses the old name. |
| Source store | Your main store, as the Product syncing settings call it. Some older guides meant your starting store. |
| Fulfillment store | Your packing store. The Orders page still uses this name. |
| Selective syncing | Your sync list. |
| Child store, destination store | Your other stores: the ones under Syncs to in the Product syncing settings. |
| Export | Copying products into another store, which setup offers as Create missing products. |
| Location connection | Connecting locations under Settings, Connect locations. |
| Price modification, price adjustment | A price rule. Price adjustment is still the switch’s name. |
| Align, alignment | Matching. The status Needs Alignment still uses the old word. |
| Inventory proxy mapping | What we do when a store caps stock: Etsy holds 999, so with 1,500 on hand we send 999 and keep track of the rest. |
| Webhook | A store telling us about a change as it happens. |
| Polling | Checking a store for changes on a timer, for stores that don’t tell us. |
Common questions
What’s the difference between the main store and the packing store?
They do different jobs, and you pick each one separately. Your main store is where product details come from. Titles, prices, photos and variants go out from it to your other stores. Your packing store is where orders go. We copy each new order into it, so you ship from one place. One store can do both. Stock has neither, because it syncs both ways.
Is the source store the same as the main store?
Yes. The Product syncing settings on the Products page call your main store the Source store, and our older guides call it the master store. Some older guides also used source store for the store with the right stock at setup. Setup now calls that one the starting store. On your first setup, they have to be the same store anyway.
Why does QuickSync count more items than my store shows?
Because we count variants, not products. Each size and colour is its own item, with its own SKU and stock. So a tee in 4 sizes and 3 colours is 12 items. We count each variant once, in one store, and only while it’s syncing. Anything under Needs attention or off your sync list doesn’t count toward your plan.
What does QuickFix do?
It clears Needs attention items in groups. It sorts them by issue and shows what it’ll do for each group, such as creating a missing SKU, adding a product to your sync list or creating a missing listing. Nothing runs until you confirm. It’ll ask you to accept Etsy or eBay listing fees first. Some statuses don’t have an automatic fix.
