How Automatic AI Aspect Recommendation Works When Exporting Products To eBay?

When you export a product to eBay, certain categories require you to provide specific item details called Item Specifics before your listing can go live. These include details like Brand, Color, Material, Size, and Country of Manufacture. Without them, eBay will not allow the listing to be published.

Filling in these details manually for every product takes a lot of time, especially if you have a large catalog. QuickSync automatically tries to recommend these required aspects based on your product’s data and the detected eBay category using our ChatGPT-powered AI. If valid aspect values are found, QuickSync will populate and submit them automatically to eBay so the product can be successfully listed.

This way, your listings go live with the right information with QuickSync’s automatic AI aspect recommendation without any manual input needed from your side.

What Are eBay Item Specifics? #

eBay Item Specifics are the required product details that eBay asks you to fill in before a listing can go live in certain categories. They help eBay understand exactly what your product is and make it easier for buyers to find it in search results. Common examples include Brand, Color, Material, Size, and Country of Manufacture.

The required Item Specifics vary depending on the category your product is listed in, some categories have just a few required fields, while others may have many. Filling them in accurately improves your listing visibility and reduces the chances of your product being rejected or suppressed by eBay.

How Automatic AI Aspect Recommendation Works When Exporting Products to eBay using QuickSync? #

When you export a product to eBay, QuickSync works through the following steps in the background:

  1. Once the product category is confirmed, QuickSync fetches the list of required Item Specifics for that category from eBay’s Store Taxonomy.
  2. For each required aspect, QuickSync calls its internal ChatGPT client to:
    • Analyse the product’s titledescription, and variants, and
    • Suggest the most likely value(s) for that aspect(e.g., Color: BlueMaterial: CottonBrand: Nike).
  3. QuickSync compiles all the suggested aspect values and passes them into your product export workflow.
  4. If valid values are found, the product is exported and listed on eBay automatically without any manual input from your side.
  5. If no valid aspect values are returned or if eBay does not accept the suggested values, QuickSync exports the product as a Draft instead of publishing it as active. This gives you the chance to open the product, fill in the missing details manually, and publish it yourself without having to start the export from scratch

Troubleshooting #

Q1: Why am I not seeing any suggested aspects for my product?

There are a few reasons this can happen:

  • If your product title, description, or variant information does not include enough detail, QuickSync will not have enough data to generate confident suggestions and will skip the AI recommendations.
  • If the AI service is temporarily unavailable, QuickSync will still fetch the required aspects from eBay but leave the values blank for you to fill in manually.
  • If the category your product is listed in has no required aspects defined in eBay’s Store Taxonomy, QuickSync will refresh the attribute list and fall back to manual entry.

Q2: My AI recommendations are wrong or incomplete. How do I fix this?

The accuracy of the AI recommendations depends on how much detail is available in your product data. If the suggestions are not accurate, here is what you can do:

  • Make sure your product title clearly includes the brand, product type, color, size, and material where relevant
  • Write a detailed product description that covers the key attributes of your product.
  • Add representative variants to your product. QuickSync analyses up to 20 variants to generate recommendations, so the more information you provide, the better the suggestions will be.

Q3: What happens if eBay rejects the AI-suggested aspect values?

If eBay does not accept the values suggested by the AI, QuickSync will export the product as a Draft rather than failing the export completely. You can then open the draft listing, review the Item Specifics, update the values manually, and publish the product from there.
